1. Seek aid to finance an energy efficient home. Like in England for
example, they offer assistance called "Warm front grant"
which finances improvements made in your house such as insulation and heating.
Other energy companies also offer energy saving aid.
2. The walls and roof of our houses absorbs almost 50
percent of heat so think about insulating your home. Try cavity wall insulation
or loft insulation which can be a do-it-yourself job.
3. Always unplug appliances. Instead of leaving your
appliances on standby mode, turn them off totally by switching it through the
main power switch or unplug them totally. Large amount of energy as well as
money is wasted every time you use the remote controls to turn off appliances.
Also, turn off lights whenever you leave a room.
4. Look for energy efficient appliances. When buying
appliances, search for those with energy saving recommend labels. Use a 20 watt
bulb for examples instead of using a 100 watt bulb. You only not save energy
but also save money in return.
5. Use heat more effectively. When cooking for example,
cover pots and sauce pans when cooking. This will make the heating faster. Try
to replace old heating appliances, like boilers, with new and more efficient.
By doing so, the energy consumption is reduced by almost third. Also, instead
of using normal ovens, use microwave when heating food.
